Wiggly, The Life of Jell-O

An exhibit displaying the life of Jell-O and its in depth history for how it became so well known.

THE PROBLEM
The brand, Jell-O, has become synonymous with gelatin and was once known as America’s favorite snack. However, it has lost popularity in the 21st century.

THE OBJECTIVE
Showing that Jell-O is more than just a cheap dessert, it has a rich history.

THE WORK
+ Exhibition
+ Experience
+ Space
+ Advertising
+ Layout
+ Storytelling
+ Branding

THE THINKING
The strange recipes that utilized Jell-O in the 20th century (like Jell-O with canned tuna!), before it became something just for kids’ school lunches and used for shots. Jell-O has shifted its branding through the decades, and this voice drew me in as gelatin is such a funky dessert.

THE PROCESS
I worked on telling the story of Jell-O, from its start up to where it stands in the market today with everything big and small in between. Taking into consideration the subject matter, the exhibit is playful as it uses vivid bright colors to immerse the viewer in the Jell-O experience.

THE EXPLORATION
Creating a solution comes from many sketches, iterations, prototypes, and best of all, mistakes. With constant feedback and analyzation at each step of the work, the process yields great results. Here’s a peek at some of the steps I flew between while working on Wiggly.
